Treating private equity investment the same as public is just a terrible idea. The government needs to stay out of private investment and private markets. It only serves to hurt the smaller niche groups who are more competitive on the purchase price and can do wonders for lower-middle-market company growth -- restricting their ability to compete for acquisitions means less attention and investment in emerging domestic companies in lieu of more profits for the "big boys."
